David N. Cicilline - Mayor Thomas E. Deller - Executive Director
Each year, the City of Providence issues more than $90 million in contracts to vendors, including everything from professional consulting services to the provision of supplies such as uniforms. This is your opportunity to expand your customer base and grow your business.
The City's Purchasing Department is responsible for procuring goods and services for all City departments. The process of selecting a vendor depends on the amount of the award.
All purchases over $5,000 must be bid and awarded through the City's Board of Contract and Supply (BOC). The BOC meets every other week to advertise and award bids. Check the Board Agenda regularly to find out what opportunities are coming up.
The City's purchasing agents are responsible for finding the lowest responsible bid for goods and services under $5,000. Get on the City's vendor list today by completing a Vendor Registration Form. You can get a copy of the form from the Purchasing Department, located at Providence City Hall, 25 Dorrance Street
It is the policy of the City of Providence that minority business enterprises (MBEs) and women business enterprises (WBEs) shall have the maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of procurements and projects as prime contractors and vendors. To that end, the City has established a goal that 10% of the total value of contracts awarded be to both MBEs and WBEs. To learn more about becoming certified as a MBE or WBE, contact the City's MBE/WBE Coordinator.
The City of Providence is not the only game in town when it comes to providing supplies and services to government agencies. The following links will take you to other local, state and federal purchasing/procurement websites.
